Step-By-Step: Getting Started with Ledger
Follow these five simple stages to begin managing crypto with maximum security.
1. Unbox & Verify the Device
Check that:
- The box is sealed and intact
- The recovery sheets are blank
- The Ledger device turns on properly
⚠️ If you purchased your device second-hand or something appears suspicious, discontinue setup immediately and contact Ledger Support.
2. Power On the Device
Use the side buttons to:
- Navigate menus
- Confirm selections
- Begin setup as “New Device”
You’ll then be guided to create a 4–8 digit PIN code. This code is required every time you use the device.
3. Generate Your Recovery Phrase
The device generates a unique 24-word recovery phrase.
This phrase is the only backup to your wallet.
🛑 Never share your recovery phrase with anyone.
🛑 Never store it on a computer or smartphone.
🛑 Ledger will NEVER ask for it.
Write the words on the provided recovery sheet and store them somewhere only you can access.
4. Install Ledger Live

Install the app through the official Ledger website only.
5. Add Crypto Accounts & Make Your First Transfer

- Follow the prompts to synchronize your wallet
